Captains News

Hello Members,

Recently the Match Committee met and voted on the way to move ahead with regard to the Captaincy of the Club. They voted that Greg Worden and Frank Osborne be Co-Captains which was fully supported by the Executive Committee. I look forward to working with both of them to ensure a smooth transition and continued good work by the Match Committee.

Unfortunately the time has come to say goodbye to our long serving bar manager Sandie. Sandie finished up this weekend, but will be around for a few more weeks and we will see her off with a farewell dinner before she skips town. I would like to welcome Ben to the club as the new face behind the bar. Ben has been working in clubs for a long time now and is even quite a handy golfer himself (used to play off 1). I would like everyone to make sure we make Ben feel welcome and introduce yourself at your next round.

Dry Season Cup is on this weekend. Read the attached COP and put your names down on both Saturday and Sunday booking sheets if wishing to play. Good luck to all.

Regards

Cameron Wilson

President

Through The Green

Greens still being sprayed with insecticide to kill weeds

There has been some confusion on the tee block markers, so please let me explain:

* Blue Paver - Mens front and back nine

* White Paver - Ladies Comp markers

* Red Paver - Ladies Comp markers

* Blue & White Paver - Mens & Ladies Wet Season course

At this time if there are 2 white or 2 red etc at the same position i.e. 2ndthen the forward is for the front nine and the rear ones are for the back nine

At this time we are using the white ladies course therefore the white cones for the ladies competition play

Volunteer News

Thank you to ALL the volunteers who worked on the course this week.

Reminder that it is a condition of ongoing Honorary membership that you contribute to the club. Volunteering for work on the course or at working bees is a great way to contribute, meet other members as well as assist in completing much needed maintenance for the club, without which our club cannot survive.

There is still work to be completed so if you can spare an hour or 2 please let me know. If anyone has a bobcat NT licence there is a bit of work where I could use the bobcat and I would be more than happy to attend when you are available be it for 2 hours or the day

My contact details are tworobs@live.com.auor mobile 0413 705 966

Cheers Rob Merrill

Pace of Play

  • Ready Golf is encouraged, 40 sec per shot.
  • Keep up with the group in front - if you lose sight of them, increase your pace of play;
  • Check the score card for the estimated tee time for each hole to see if you are on time or not;
  • Limit practice swings.
  • Watch where your ball goes and pick a landmark to help locate it;
  • Ask someone else to watch your shot if you are unsure where it may go;
  • Play a provisional ball if you are AT ALL unsure if you will locate the ball;
  • Look for and find a ball within 3 minutes - no more!
  • Move to next tee block once you have holed out - don't wait for all other players to hole out;
  • First player to tee, tee off before marking score card;
  • Walk purposefully.
  • If you are having difficulties keeping up, let the group behind play through.
